The Problem

African developers build on tools
not built for Africa.

Stripe doesn't work in Kenya. Twilio bills in USD. AWS support tickets sit unanswered for 12 hours. Every developer tool assumes a US credit card, a US timezone, and a US bank account.

Billing friction

USD pricing, failed card transactions, PayPal blocks, and surprise FX markups on every invoice.

Timezone gap

Servers go down at 2 PM Nairobi time. Support tickets open in San Francisco. Nobody answers until tomorrow.

Infrastructure gaps

M-Pesa webhooks, Kenyan shortcodes, local DNS. Global tools don't handle these natively.

The Opportunity

Africa's digital economy is at scale, not "emerging."

The numbers below are not projections. They are 2024 actuals from Safaricom, GSMA, KIPPRA and ResearchAndMarkets. The infrastructure layer underneath this economy has not caught up. That is the gap Axene fills.

Our Solution

Infrastructure that works the way Africa works.

KES pricing. M-Pesa billing. Engineering support in Nairobi. Data on African servers. Designed around local payment rails, local telecoms, and local developer workflows.

Latency <50ms from Nairobi
01

Priced in KES, billed via M-Pesa

No USD conversion. No failed foreign card transactions. Pay with your phone, on your terms.

02

Built for local infrastructure

M-Pesa webhooks, Kenyan aggregators, local DNS: first-class support, not workarounds.

03

Support in your timezone

Our engineering team is in Nairobi. When something breaks at 2 PM EAT, we're at our desks.

04

Data on African servers

99.9% uptime SLA. Enterprise-grade redundancy. Your M-Pesa webhook fires on a public holiday at midnight.

The Product Suite

One suite.
Every layer.

Competitive Pricing

Not the cheapest.
The only local option.

Every competitor bills in USD and requires a foreign credit card. For Kenyan developers, that's a monthly obstacle before writing a single line of code.

Email API at 15,000 emails/month, KES equivalent pricing.

How It Works

Three steps to production.

No credit card. No USD. No complicated setup.

01

Sign up for free

Create your account in seconds. Add your domain, verify the DNS records, and you are ready to send. No credit card. No setup fees.

02

Get your API keys

One API key per product. RESTful endpoints with JSON responses. No XML. No SDK required. Standard HTTP works everywhere.

03

Ship to production

Data on African servers. Latency under 50ms from Nairobi. Support in EAT. Billing in KES. Scale without surprises.

POST /v1/email/send · Authorization: Bearer {key} · Content-Type: application/json
Business Model

Two revenue streams.
Both recurring.

Stream 01

API & SaaS Subscriptions

Monthly or annual plans for Email API, SMS, Payments, DNS, and Email Hosting. Tiered by usage, billed in KES via M-Pesa.

KES 250 – 3,000+
per product, per month
Stream 02

Client Services

Web hosting, website development, SEO, management, email setup, and custom software. Transparent pricing, fast turnaround.

KES 1,500 – 50,000+
per project or monthly retainer
Why it compounds

Low acquisition cost: African developers actively seek local alternatives

High retention: switching costs once integrated into a production stack

Natural expansion: customers grow from one product to the full suite

Services revenue funds infrastructure build-out with zero dilution

Traction

Real product. Real users.

Axene Mailer launched in 2026 and is live in production. We currently have 40 users actively testing the product. Our client services arm runs in parallel - custom software and infrastructure setup work that funds the SaaS build-out.

The Team

Five co-founders. All in Nairobi.

Axene is built by five technical co-founders. We are all young, all in Kenya, all building this together from the ground up.

Steve Tom

Co-Founder

SMTP infrastructure, DevOps, and A2P SMS systems. Builds and runs the core platform.

Osborn Nyakaru

Co-Founder

Product, sales, and corporate accounts. Leads customer conversations and partnerships.

Stanley Onyango

Co-Founder

Full-stack engineering. Builds e-commerce, fintech, and M-Pesa integrations.

Njeri Beth Kimani

Co-Founder

AI and Python backend. Builds intelligence layers across the product suite.

Oliver Jackson

Co-Founder

Cybersecurity and infrastructure hardening. Keeps the platform safe and resilient.

Defensibility

Why this is hard to copy.

A US provider could announce KES billing tomorrow. Building it properly is a different problem.

01

Local payment rails

M-Pesa STK Push requires a Daraja integration and a registered Kenyan business entity. Global providers have neither and no roadmap to build them.

02

African server placement

Sub-50ms latency from Nairobi is a structural infrastructure decision. The incumbents have already placed their regions elsewhere.

03

Compounding suite

Customers integrate Mailer, then add SMS, then DNS, then Workspace. Each product adds switching cost. The full suite is the moat.

04

Local distribution

We sell in Swahili and English, in person, in Nairobi. A US sales team cannot replicate this from San Francisco.

The Ask

Pre-seed capital to grow.

We are talking to strategic angels and pre-seed investors who understand African infrastructure. Capital goes to physical office space for credibility and contract-signing, marketing to reach Kenyan businesses at scale, and completing the product suite.

What You Get

What investors get back.

We are not selling charity. Capital into Axene buys equity in a company with a working product, a clear market, and a team that ships. Here is what backing us actually means.

Equity in Axene

You own a share of the company at an early price. Five of us are the only owners today, so what you buy in now is what you keep as we grow.

Monthly investor updates

A short email from us every month. How much money came in, how many customers signed up, what we shipped, what went wrong. Honest, not polished.

Direct founder access

You can WhatsApp or call any of the five of us directly. No assistants, no gatekeepers. If you have a question, you ask us, and we answer.

Pro rata rights

When we raise money again later, you get first option to put in more so your share of the company does not shrink. You decide if you want to.

Strategic involvement, not silent capital.

Investors who bring distribution, customer introductions, or specific expertise get a seat at quarterly strategy sessions. Capital is welcome. Capital plus operating help is better.
