Webmail
Read, compose, label, snooze, schedule, and search your mail in the Axene Workspace webmail client.
Every mailbox comes with a fast webmail client. Open Mail in Axene Workspace and you get a three-pane layout: folders and labels on the left, the message list in the middle, and a reading pane on the right. If you own or have access to more than one mailbox (including shared mailboxes), switch between them from the sidebar.
Folders
Every mailbox starts with the standard folders: Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Snoozed, Archive, Spam, and Trash. Unread counts show next to each folder, and a storage meter at the bottom of the sidebar shows how much of your quota is used. You can add custom folders too, for example as targets for filters.
Reading mail
Click a conversation to open it. Messages in the same thread are grouped, with the newest shown first and older messages beneath it. From the reading pane you can star, reply, forward, label, report spam, archive, delete, or print, and move to the previous or next conversation.
Remote images are blocked by default to protect your privacy (tracking pixels are images). When a message contains remote images you get a banner with two choices: Show images loads them once, and Always show from this sender trusts that address permanently. Trusted senders are stored on the server, so the choice follows you across devices.
Attachments are listed under the message body. Click one to preview it, or download it.
Composing
Press C anywhere in Mail, or click the compose button, to start a new message. The composer opens as a window over your inbox; you can minimise it, maximise it, or open it as a full page.
- Recipients - type into To, Cc, or Bcc. Autocomplete suggests people you have recently corresponded with, mined from your own Sent mail and Inbox.
- Attachments - attach files with the paperclip or drag and drop them onto the composer. The limits are 5 MB per file and 24 MB total per message.
- Drafts - save a draft at any point; it lands in your Drafts folder.
The webmail composer sends clean plain-text email, which is the most reliably delivered and universally readable format.
Undo send
When you click Send, the message is held for a few seconds with an Undo button in the toast. Click it and the message is not sent; your composer stays open with everything intact.
Schedule send
Next to the Send button is a schedule menu with three presets: In 1 hour, This evening (6pm), and Tomorrow (8am). A scheduled message is stored and sent by the server at the chosen time, so you can close the browser and it still goes out.
Reply, reply all, and forward
- Reply answers the sender, quoting the original below your text.
- Reply all answers the sender and puts everyone else from the original To and Cc lines (minus you) on Cc.
- Forward carries the original message and its attachments to a new recipient.
Replies set the standard threading headers (In-Reply-To, References), so conversations stay grouped in the recipient's mail client too.
Send-as identities
If an alias routes to your mailbox (say [email protected] delivering to [email protected]), you can send as that address. Add it under Settings, Identities, optionally with its own display name and reply-to, and pick it from the From selector in the composer. You can only add identities for the mailbox address itself or an alias that routes to it; one identity can be marked as the default.
Signatures
Set your signature under Settings, Profile & signature. It is saved as the default signature for your mailbox.
Labels
Labels are colour-coded tags you can put on conversations, on top of whatever folder they live in. Create them from the sidebar or under Settings, Labels, pick a colour, and apply or remove them from the label menu in the reading pane. Click a label in the sidebar to see only conversations carrying it.
Labels are stored as IMAP keywords on the messages themselves. That means they sync to every device, and any IMAP client that understands keywords sees them too.
Snooze
Snoozing moves a conversation out of your inbox and into the Snoozed folder until a time you pick. When the time comes, the server moves it back to the folder it came from and it lights up as new. You can also wake a snoozed message early.
Search
The search bar searches the whole mailbox. Plain words match anywhere in the message, and you can narrow the query with operators:
| Operator | Example | Matches |
|---|---|---|
from: | from:[email protected] | Sender address or name |
to: | to:support@ | Recipient |
subject: | subject:invoice | Subject line |
after: | after:2026-06-01 | Messages on or after a date (YYYY-MM-DD) |
before: | before:2026-07-01 | Messages before a date |
Multiple criteria are combined, so from:jane subject:invoice after:2026-06-01 finds Jane's invoice emails from June onwards.
Read tracking
You can opt in to read tracking on a per-message basis, if it is enabled for your Workspace deployment (it is off by default). A tracked message carries an invisible pixel; when the recipient opens it, the open is recorded and shown under Settings, Tracking along with the open count and the last-opened time.
Read tracking is best-effort. Many mail clients block remote images, in which case a message shows as "not opened" even if it was read.
Using other mail apps
Everything above works in the browser on the Free plan. On paid plans the same mailbox is also reachable over IMAP and SMTP from Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, and phones; see Mail clients for the server settings and app passwords.
